Bank Robber Receives Federal Prison Term for Savannah Heist
David Wayne Stanley, convicted of a 2023 Savannah bank robbery, has been sentenced to federal prison and must pay restitution and serve additional supervised release.

David Wayne Stanley, a Cochran resident, has been sentenced to over 13 years in federal prison for robbing a Wells Fargo Bank in Savannah, as announced by Jill E. Steinberg, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia.

Stanley admitted to the October 2023 robbery, during which he threatened bank tellers with a firearm and demanded money. For this crime, U.S. District Court Chief Judge R. Stan Baker mandated that Stanley pay $6,677 in restitution and undergo three years of supervised release following his prison term. Additionally, Stanley will serve another 12 months for breaching his supervised release from a previous conviction.

Stanley, previously convicted of another Savannah bank heist in 2016 and for robbing seven banks Texas in 2009, was on supervised release at the time of October’s robbery.
