High school students aged 16-18 are invited to apply for the 2024-2025 Youth Advisory Council, an initiative brought forth by the City of Perry. Perry’s Youth Advisory Council is a unique platform, designed specifically to provide these young students an opportunity to gain profound insights into workings of their local government and how they align with the greater framework of Perry’s administrative structure.
For any student considering a career that deals with government or city operations, this could prove to be a formative experience. Tabitha Clark, Director of Communications for the city said “This is an opportunity for students to learn more about their local government and City of Perry operations.” The youth council is not just another student body but a potential stepping stone towards gaining practical understanding of governance at a local level.
However, it must be noted that the selection process for the council is not about mere enrollment and interested applicants are required to meet certain prerequisites. The students must be a resident of Perry and enrolled at either a area high school or homeschool in Perry. The deadline to apply is September 3rd and more information can be found here.
