Dyslexia-Focused School Opens its Doors for the First Time in Middle Georgia
An Innovative Approach to Learning Is Now Underway in a New Neighborhood

Roberts Academy, a novel education establishment for dyslexic students in grades 2 through 5, will commence its academic year on Wednesday. The academy, situated at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, marks the first effort in the state to cater specifically to dyslexic pupils beyond the metropolitan boundaries of Atlanta.

In what sets a groundbreaking precedent, the school will primarily cater to dyslexic pupils, making education more accessible for students grappling with this learning difficulty. Focused on a transitional approach, the academy is set to equip these students with the necessary skills and resources for a smooth reintroduction into mainstream education.

Steered under the leadership of Head of School Joy Wood, the academy has adopted a model designed to make its students’ return to the more traditional education system less challenging. Emphasizing on individual progress rather than the traditional rote learning, the academy’s curriculum aims at nurturing a conducive learning environment for its students.

The establishment of Roberts Academy exemplifies the growing recognition of dyslexia and showcases an educational framework geared towards a more inclusive future. With its doors about to open, the academy is ready to chart a new path in special education across Georgia.
