Harris and Walz Visit Southeast Georgia
The Democratic ticket stopped at a local high school to kick off their bus tour through southeast Georgia.

Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz kicked off a bus tour across southeast Georgia today in an effort to secure Georgians’ votes in the upcoming presidential election. Starting with a stop at Liberty County High School in Hinesville today, the duo is scheduled to be in town until tomorrow.

During the visit, the high school band performed their fight song and Harris addressed the crowd, expressing pride and emphasizing the importance of the younger generation in shaping the country’s future. “Your generation…is what is going to propel our country into the next era of what we can do and what we can be,” Harris stated.

The stop at the high school highlights Vice President Harris’s campaign strategy of attracting young voters. Harris has even embraced “Brat summer”, a viral trend centered around singer Charli XCX. The singer defined “brat” as “You are just that girl who is a little messy and maybe says dumb things sometimes, who feels herself but then also maybe has a breakdown but parties through it. It is honest, blunt and a little bit volatile. That’s Brat.”

Some have criticized Harris over decision to embrace the viral trend, along with other memes, noting that her campaign is running on “good vibes” and not policy positions. The same critics have brought up the lack of on-camera interviews done with the Democratic Nominee and her Vice Presidential pick. They labeled her campaign as “A hollow shell, constructed entirely from feelings and emotions. It’s ‘good vibes’ all the way through.”

Despite a lack of on air interviews, the duo has scheduled several stops around the country. Their tour of Georgia will conclude with a rally in Savannah tomorrow. This trip serves as a rescheduled visit after a planned tour earlier in the month was disrupted by Tropical Storm Debby.
