The 2024 Kaolin Festival in Sandersville has been rescheduled to November 16th, allowing the city and its residents more time to recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The festival, originally slated for October 13th, was postponed to ensure that local businesses, vendors, and participants could prioritize recovery before preparing for the event.
According to a statement on the festival’s Facebook page, the decision was made in collaboration with city and county officials, as well as numerous volunteers who have been actively involved in managing donation drives and community support efforts following the hurricane.
The Kaolin Festival, a well-attended annual celebration of Washington County’s kaolin mining heritage, is set to maintain its full slate of planned activities. Organizers expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community, highlighting that the numerous inquiries about the festival demonstrate the local passion for the event.
For those who have already submitted applications to participate as parade participants or vendors, the Chamber of Commerce is available to answer any questions starting Monday. Anyone seeking further details about the event or needing assistance is encouraged to contact the Chamber directly at (478) 552-3288.
