Owner of Rehab Facility in Middle Georgia Confesses Guilt
The owner of Middle Georgia Family Rehab admitted to impeding a federal investigation into their company's billing.

Brenda Hicks, the 58-year-old proprietor of Middle Georgia Family Rehab, admitted guilt to charges of conspiracy to obstruct justice on June 5. The guilty plea was in response to accusations of manipulating documentation amid a federal healthcare billing probe. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia, this manipulation was instructed by Hicks and involved her staff.

If convicted, Hicks could possibly serve up to two decades in prison and be subject to three years of supervision after the completion of her sentence. These potential consequences reflect the severity of committed offenses against the federal healthcare billing system.

The whole saga started when a healthcare billing investigation became the focus of the federal authorities. Middle Georgia Family Rehab, led by Hicks, came under scrutiny during this probe.

Allegedly, Hicks directed her employees to modify certain documents to interfere with this investigation, which is a federal crime. Following the indictment, Hicks opted to plead guilty to conspiracy to obstruct justice, a serious legal transgression.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia has been investigating this case. Further information about Hicks’ sentencing and potential consequences will be made available as the case progresses.
