“Tables for Heroes” Initiative Provides Support to Veterans and First Responders
A heartwarming charitable initiative known as "Tables for Heroes" is making a significant impact by supporting veterans and first responders through the delivery of handcrafted wooden tables to the Boys and Girls Club.

The initiative, spearheaded by South Georgia resident Sheron Kendrick, aims to honor and recognize the sacrifices made by veterans and first responders by providing them with beautifully crafted tables made from reclaimed wood.

Kendrick commented saying, “We got to start building these tables as a means of bringing community awareness about veterans not getting the recognition that they deserve. Today, we just delivered three tables, one to the Boys and Girls Club here in Albany, Georgia. The other one was to the ARC of Southwest Georgia on the Liberty Expressway. And the next was going to the Liberty House. We got to go and get that one and deliver that one today.”

The handcrafted tables were recently delivered to the Boys and Girls Club, where they will be utilized and appreciated by members of the community. Each table is meticulously crafted with care and attention to detail, creating a unique and meaningful piece of furniture that carries a message of gratitude and respect.

“People that have a disability, and certain age groups of that sort of status need a handicapped ramps and were unable to afford to do so. So, I came up with this idea of building these picnic tables, getting large businesses and organizations or individuals to sponsor a table, giving it to veterans or first responders or people of their chosen organization, of their choice, and then taking those proceeds that generated from there and going out and building handicap ramps for the elderly and the disabled for free. So far, we built just over 200 plus of these tables, and we’ve managed to build right under 70 plus handicapped ramps here in southwest Georgia for people, for free,” commented Kendrick.

The “Tables for Heroes” initiative has garnered widespread support and admiration from the community, with many expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to support and honor veterans and first responders. All of the proceeds from the tables goes directly back to veterans and first responders.

As the handcrafted tables find new homes at the Boys and Girls Club, they serve as a reminder of the selfless service and dedication of those who have served and continue to serve our country and communities.
