Telfair County Schools Closed Today Following Threatening TikTok Video
Schools will reopen tomorrow after authorities apprehended the individual responsible for a threatening video that led to the temporary closure.

Telfair County Schools were closed today after a TikTok video surfaced, threatening a shooting at the county’s high school. The threat, which prompted immediate action from local law enforcement, led to an investigation involving multiple agencies.

Sheriff Sim Davidson announced that his office was alerted to the video on Monday. In response, they began working with the McRae-Helena Police Department, the Telfair County Board of Education Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Home Security to thoroughly investigate the matter.

Authorities conducted interviews with potential witnesses, and by late Monday evening, the individual responsible for creating the video had been taken into custody. Sheriff Davidson confirmed the arrest on Facebook, thanking all agencies involved in resolving the situation swiftly.

As a result of the investigation, the Telfair County School District announced that all schools would remain closed today as a precautionary measure. However, they assured parents and students that regular classes will resume tomorrow – Wednesday, September 11.

The school district also commended the efforts of law enforcement, emphasizing that student and staff safety remains their highest priority.
